Executive Orders Affecting Charitable Nonprofits

Posted on November 14, 2025

At the request of our member organizations, Grow & Lead has put together an At-a-Glance chart of the status of recent Executive Orders that have implications for nonprofits.

The orders, signed by President Donald Trump since he was inaugurated Jan. 20, 2025, cover a broad range of issues including diversity, equity and inclusion programs; government grants and contracts; civic engagement and immigration.

Some of the orders are in effect; many have been challenged in court, and some have been blocked and/or continue in litigation. The chart is a condensed version of a 27-page document created by the National Council of Nonprofits. The full document included additional details of how the orders may affect nonprofits, legal challenges to the orders, related documents and frequent updates on the legal status of the orders.
